Gabriella Dominguez, 18, of Chilton shot a 4-under-par 68 at Rockwood Golf Course on Tuesday, July 6, to take a three-shot lead after the first round of the Fort Worth City Girls Junior Golf Championship. Dominguez, winner of four consecutive 1A state championships and headed to Texas Tech to play golf, led four golfers tied at 1-under 71. Among those in second was defending champion Paloma Nunez of Granbury. However, she withdrew later Monday, saying she was playing with extremely sore hands. ``They''ve been hurting a lot recently. I'm not sure what's wrong. Maybe I've been hitting too many balls,'' she said. The second round is scheduled at Diamond Oaks Country Club, and the final round of the 54-hole tournament is at Woodhaven Country Club.
